hi, this is more of a query than a suggestion. when you type the log off command, do others know you're gone?

You immediately disappear from the list of logged on users, which can be easily accessed by those curious as to your presence.

for those with publich quick notes turned on, isn't there a message that so-and-so has just logged off?

No, there is not such a message for the ones who have publics on, though it would be quite handy to have such a message.

yes, that message would be nice sometimes

That message could be a pain some times though, especially with people, who have internet issues, and keep getting kicked and stuff.

that message would be really difficult to code, see another similar board. but as to the original question...of course we can tell, if we bother to look that is.

How about defining certain users? When we define these certain users, maybe a logoff message might be displayed when that particular user logs off. An example (pardon the coincidence and my subjectiveness) could be something like "Cousin Cap has just logged off."

the problem isn't that. it's that many people don't log off, they just let the site die and get timed out.

Anyway, there's the list of people who are logged on. If you aren't on it, then you are not logged on at that time.
